Dividend Tracking

Metrifly automatically detects dividend events for the stocks in your portfolio. This means you do not need to manually research and enter every dividend payment -- Metrifly finds them for you and presents them for your review.

How Dividend Detection Works

  1. Daily sync -- Metrifly checks for dividend announcements for all tickers in your portfolio on a daily basis.
  2. Event creation -- When a dividend is detected (from Yahoo Finance data), Metrifly creates a pending dividend event with the ex-date, amount per share, and other details.
  3. User review -- Pending dividends appear in your dashboard for you to confirm or reject.
note

Dividend detection relies on third-party market data and may not capture every dividend immediately. If a dividend is missing, you can always add it manually as a DIVIDEND transaction.

Viewing Dividends

You can view dividends in several places:

Dividends Page

Navigate to Performance > Dividends from the sidebar to see a filterable list of all dividend events across your portfolio.

The table shows:

  • Ticker -- The stock that issued the dividend
  • Ex-Date -- The date you needed to hold the stock to receive the dividend
  • Amount Per Share -- Dividend payment per share
  • Total Amount -- Estimated total based on your share count at the ex-date
  • Status -- Pending, Paid, or DRP

You can filter by:

  • Date range -- Show dividends within a specific period
  • Ticker -- Focus on a single holding
  • Exchange -- Filter by stock exchange
  • Status -- Show only pending, paid, or DRP dividends

Holding Income Tab

Each holding's detail page has an Income tab showing dividend events specific to that holding. See Holding Detail Page for details.

Dividend Calendar

Navigate to Performance > Dividend Calendar for a monthly calendar view showing when dividends occurred or are expected. This is useful for:

  • Visualising your income schedule across the year
  • Identifying months with high or low dividend income
  • Planning around dividend dates

Troubleshooting

ProblemSolution
Dividend not detectedMetrifly relies on third-party data. Add it manually via Adding Transactions (type: DIVIDEND).
Dividend amount is wrongThe detected amount is per share; total is calculated from your shares at the ex-date. If the per-share amount is wrong, reject the event and enter it manually.
Duplicate dividend eventsIf you see both an auto-detected event and a manual entry, reject the duplicate on the dividends page.
Calendar shows no dataEnsure you have holdings with confirmed dividends. Pending dividends also appear on the calendar.
