Export your trades from CommSec
This shows you how to download your full trade history from CommSec and bring it into Metrifly. By the end, every CommSec buy and sell will be in your portfolio, with prices, dividends, and performance filled in automatically.
CommSec is an Australian broker, so you’ll use Metrifly’s built-in CommSec preset — which means you won’t have to match any columns by hand.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Have your CommSec login handy.
- In Metrifly, pick the single portfolio you want the trades to go into (not a group).
Step 1 — Download your trades from CommSec
Section titled “Step 1 — Download your trades from CommSec”- Log in to CommSec and go to Trade → Manage Orders → Confirmations.
- Set the From and To dates to cover all your trades — go back as far as your first purchase so nothing is missed.
- Click Search, then the Download CSV link.
You’ll get a file in your downloads. That’s the file Metrifly needs — both CSV and Excel imports work.
Step 2 — Import the file into Metrifly
Section titled “Step 2 — Import the file into Metrifly”- In Metrifly, go to Transactions → Add Holdings → Import from file.
- Choose CommSec from the broker list.
- Upload the file you just downloaded. Metrifly maps the columns for you and previews the trades it found.
- Click Import. Your trades save in the background and your holdings update within a minute.
For the full walkthrough of the import wizard — including the review step — see Import your trade history from a file.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| Some trades are missing | Re-export from CommSec with a wider From / To date range. |
| A holding shows a Check symbol pill | The ticker couldn’t be matched. Open the holding and confirm the ticker and exchange. |
| The file won’t upload | Make sure it’s the file you downloaded and it’s under 10 MB. |
