Export your trades from Interactive Brokers
Interactive Brokers (IBKR) is a global broker, and it exports trades through a Flex Query — a custom report you set up once and reuse. This shows you how to build that query, download it, and import it into Metrifly with the IBKR preset. By the end, your IBKR trades will be in your portfolio with prices and performance filled in.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Have your IBKR Account Management login handy.
- In Metrifly, pick the single portfolio you want the trades to go into (not a group).
Step 1 — Create a Flex Query in IBKR
Section titled “Step 1 — Create a Flex Query in IBKR”- Log in to IBKR and open Account Management.
- In the sidebar, go to Reporting → Flex Queries.
- Click + to create a new Flex Query. (You can create separate queries for trades and dividends.)
- Set the export format to CSV.
Trades query
Section titled “Trades query”Use the Trades section and include these columns:
Buy/Sell, TradeDate, ISIN, Quantity, TradePrice, TradeMoney, CurrencyPrimary, IBCommission, IBCommissionCurrency
Dividends query (optional)
Section titled “Dividends query (optional)”Use the Cash Transactions section and include:
Type, SettleDate, ISIN, Description, Amount, CurrencyPrimary
Step 2 — Download the file
Section titled “Step 2 — Download the file”Run each query for your date range and download the CSV file (or files). These are what Metrifly imports.
Step 3 — Import the file into Metrifly
Section titled “Step 3 — Import the file into Metrifly”- In Metrifly, go to Transactions → Add Holdings → Import from file.
- Choose IBKR (Interactive Brokers) from the broker list.
- Upload your file. Metrifly maps the columns and previews the trades it found.
- Click Import. Your trades save in the background and your holdings update within a minute.
For the full import walkthrough, see Import your trade history from a file.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| Holdings show Check symbol after import | Make sure the ISIN column is mapped — Metrifly uses it to resolve the symbol. |
| Options or futures are missing | That’s expected — only equity rows are imported. |
| Some trades are missing | Re-run the Flex Query with a wider date range. |
